Join KI Men’s Club at 10:00 am on Sunday, January 29 for a special brunch presentation by Stew Feinberg. He will describe how he researched the genealogy of his wife’s, Bev, maternal grandfather, Harry Lasoff. Harry immigrated to the USA from Russia in 1905 with his wife, Rachel Cohen Lasoff. The purpose of the presentation is to show you how to begin researching the genealogy of your ancestors. We will start with the most popular genealogy research websites and go from there.
Stew will show you examples of the “brick walls” that can be encountered in genealogy research and the approaches you can take to scale these brick walls.
This presentation will lead into a three-session course to be presented beginning March 19. The first session will be aimed at teaching students how and where to get started to search their family history and genealogy. Included in this discussion will be a brief look at how to construct a family tree. The second session will focus on getting familiar with the most useful genealogy websites for searching for genealogy information. We will also undertake a few genealogy searches as teaching examples. Students will then be charged with beginning a genealogy of their own. For the third session, students will report back regarding their search results and we will use these class discussions to improve your own techniques.
The cost for the brunch is $10 per person
